Flask with Saint Minas and two Camels

Post  Admin on Wed Feb 24, 2010 7:56 am

This flask of Saint Minas, who was beheaded for confessing his Christian faith, contains a little water, which each visitor to the monastery takes as a blessing. The flask is decorated with human figures and animals.

It bears the image of Saint Minas and two camels. It is the well-known depiction of the saint wearing Greek clothing. The face has the features typical of Coptic art.
