Apse, or Father's Bosom, with Holy Virgin

Post  Admin on Fri Oct 16, 2009 1:50 pm

This niche is called "the Father's Bosom." It is decorated with a wall panel. In the upper part is a portrait of the Holy Virgin carrying the Infant Jesus and over their heads are halos of light.

It is considered to be an ordinary niche, not ranking equally with the Niche of the Sanctuary, because it does not contain a portrait of the Lord Jesus Christ seated on his throne.
