Bone Engraved with Plants and Animals 73-10-10

This piece of bone has plant and animal ornamentation. The plants are small flowers. The animals represent a lion attacking a gazelle to devour it. It has already devoured the head.

The whole scene is symbolic of the victory of good over evil; the lion is a symbol of evil and the gazelle is a symbol of good.

The flower perhaps represents the Lord Jesus Christ, the Tree of Life, of which Satan wished to eat. The lion is guarding the tree and is also a symbol of the Lord.
